FAQ
What is the game plot?
Pirates & Armadas browser based city building game set in the Caribbean ocean in the time of the early colonization of the new word. You have to establish and develop a colony choosing which resources to focus your production and which buildings to support your town. The gameplay is turn-based similar to what you now from classics such as civilization. However the game is also massive multiplayer meaning you have to compete against thousands of other players including some of allied and enemy nations as well as even pirates. The game will feature story driven quests too. Interaction, friendship, war or explotation of native indians is yet another game option.
Which vessels will you be able to purchase?
We plan to offer the whole lot. That is brigs, sloops, galleon, merchantmen, frigates and warships.
Is the game free?
Yes. The game will be completely free. However to afford to keep the servers running we will probably want to offer a premium account for a small amount for those players who want to contribute and get the extra advantages that a premium account will offer.
Is this another wannabe Travian?
There are several Travian clones available if you browse a bit around Internet. Depending on how you define the genre of browser based strategy and particular citybuilding games most titles share several aspects with Travian. We are not surprised as we think it's an awesome game as so many others players have. Pirates & Armadas will definitely offer similar gameplay aspects but is different in many aspects and particular in terms of alliances, trade and a much more story driven game and focus and the concept art.
I want to be a pirate not a colonist!
Well P&A offers the option to do pirating too! And if you prefer you can totally cut the connection with the king to become a fulltime scummy pirate. On the other hand you choose to be a peaceful colonist too who makes his fortune of trading or actually hunt down the pirates and earn appraisal from the royal court back home.
You talk about mixing genres in Pirate & Armadas - What is all that about?
Well we really wanted to take the game to the next level not making it just another city building clone set in a medieval time. We wanted to focus on limiting the micro management but then again having a bit more logistics and tycoon feel to it. The game shouldn't just be about boosting your resources and then taking off to hammer your opponents. While this clearly still is part of the game we wanted to offer more ways to win. Trade is an important part of the game and controlling merchant fleets trading with other colonies and Europe will be vital.

What are your guys’ favorite games?
When it comes to strategy games there is simply no way around Sid Meiers titles. Civilization is without a doubt the king of all strategy games. Colonization is actually a great source of inspiration to this game as well. Other great games we really enjoyed include the Sim City series, Transport Tycoon and Cossacks when it comes to the RTS genre. While some of the first games with mixed strategy elements include Defender of the Crown, Railroad Tycoon, Ports of Call, the Settlers series and lately browser based games Travian and Tribal Wars.
Is this game set in the carribean and what year?
The game does cover a specific year but is set around the 17th century when piracy, colonization and conquest of the new world was at its peak.
I think your game looks really cool and would like to support it - what should I do?
